James Robert Hurley

OSWEGO – James Robert Hurley of Washington, and formerly Oswego, passed away on April 3, 2024, peacefully and in the company of friends.

Jim was born in Oswego, New York to parents James T. and Teresa (Donabella) Hurley.

Jim graduated from Oswego High School and attended SUNY Oswego before beginning his career in the nuclear energy field. His career journey as a contracts manager took him from Oswego to Shippingport, Pennsylvania, to Richland, and finally to Kennewick in the state of Washington.

Jim was a gentle man and a gentleman, always. He loved music and was a diehard Yankee fan.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Elizabeth “Betty”, in 2022.

Jim is survived by his brother, John Hurley (Linda) of Cary, North Carolina; a niece, Melissa Hurley Pannozzo (Anthony); a nephew, Michael Hurley; and his grand-nephew, Mason Pannozzo, as well as his beloved cat Erika.

His family especially appreciates the love and support of his “friend family” in Washington, including Markus, Julie, and the whole McGrath family, Glenn, Mark and Kay, and Shauna, who made his life richer and more fun for their presence in it.  At this time, there will be no services. Future arrangements are pending, under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
