Janet D. Horton

OSWEGO – Janet D. Horton, 63, of Oswego passed on December 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Winter Garden Florida, she was the daughter of the late Tommy R. and Mildred Theresa (Richardson) Horton.

Janet moved, at a young age, to Long Island where she grew up.  In 1982, she relocated to Oswego to join her sister who was attending school at SUNY Oswego.  Janet worked in several positions at SUNY Oswego for 30 years.  She retired in early 2021.

Janet adored her family and loved spending time with them.  She especially loved her time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.  She was also a dedicated member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Janet is survived by her loving son Spencer, his wife Brianna, and grandchildren Audrina and Jax Horton all of Fulton.  She also leaves behind her siblings Deborah Suzette Sherald, Tommy Raydean Horton, Roselyn Maurice, Marion Sturgis, Kim Myers, Lisa McCab, and Richard Moore, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Christine Horton, and her brother Erick Horton.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
