OSWEGO – Jesus Freire, 81, of Oswego, died on February 15, 2024.
Born in Spain, he was the son of the late Abel and Carmen (Alvarez) Freire.
He moved to Oswego in 1993 and worked as a professor of Language at SUNY Oswego until his retirement in 2019.
He enjoyed philosophy and theology, military stuff, and politics.
Surviving are his wife, Esperanza (Forero) Freire, a daughter Maria Carolina (Francoise) Freire, two sons, Brian (Danielle) Freire and Michael Freire, two brothers, Jose Luis Freire and Carlos Freire, a sister Esperanza Blanco, and his beloved grandchildren, Francesca, Adrian, Dimitri, Victor, Eliana and Esteban.
A Catholic Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 22nd at St. Mary’s Parish and Shrine, Oswego. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
