OSWEGO – Joan Marie Wegzyn, 84, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael A. and Antoinette (Poynot) Vida.
Joan worked as a manufacturer at Western Electric, as well as at the local bakery and movie theater selling tickets all while living in New Jersey. After moving to Oswego, she spent time volunteering at St. Stephen’s for Church picnics and at the Almost New Shop.
Joan was a kind and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her family and looked forward to every family gathering. She enjoyed playing cards and watching her favorite television shows. Joan loved nature, her cats Lizzy and Baby, and was an avid bird watcher.
Joan is survived by her 3 loving children, daughter Caroline and husband David, son Stan and wife Karen, son Stephen and wife Angela: her grandchildren, Tanner, Chase, Blake, Heidi, Abby, Olivia, Dominique, London, and great-grandchild Miles. She also leaves behind siblings Lorraine Lozinak, Millie Burch, Michael Vida, Vincent Vida, William Vida, brother-in-law John Wegzyn and sister-in-law Frances Wegzyn.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband Stanley J. Wegzyn in 1997, her siblings Gloria Ripp, Loretta Rutan, Josephine Price, Albert Vida, and Joseph Vida, her sister-in-law Mary Jane Wegzyn, and granddaughter Danielle.
A Private Memorial will be held by the family with Burial at St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
