Jody Lynn Guido Doherty

Jody Lynn Guido Doherty

Jody Lynn Guido Doherty, 68, of Oswego, peacefully passed away on August 21, 2025 with her entire family and friends by her side.

Born in Rome, NY, she was a daughter of the late Richard Edgett and Joan (Hayes) Pelton and David Pelton.

She worked as an LPN for Connextcare in Oswego for more than 20 years. She was deeply adored and respected by her colleagues and patients. Even 3 years into retirement, she is still spoken of highly by those that knew her.

Jody was a selfless woman with a heart of gold, who got pure joy out of helping others. She loved her children and being a mom. Her children’s friends loved to spend time at her home, and she was very much a neighborhood mom to many. She also loved her animals, especially Odie and her Mossy Angel. She had a love for travel and Aruba was at the top of her list of places to visit. Sundays were her favorite day of the week, spending them at The Ranch, snuggling the day away with her favorite Buddy. Every year, she looked forward to spending time at The NYS Fair, specifically “Sister’s Day”, when she would spend the day with her sisters, enjoying the food, good company, and drinking wine slushies together.

Surviving is her loving husband, Ricky Doherty, her daughter Stephanie (Maxwell Smith) Guido, her son Nicholas Guido, her stepchildren, Rebecca Doherty, Sarah Doherty, Kathryn (Justin) Schaber, Craig Doherty (Gerald Bouchard), one brother Tim (Carla Jo O’Donoghue) Edgett, her sisters Valerie Edgett, Cindy (Scott) Sprole, Hope (Sobrina) Pelton-Vazquez, grandchildren Caitlyn Carlisle, Kennedy Hutt, Leila and Lily Schaber, Elijah, Israel, and Judah Doherty, Cameron and Mackenzie Van Patten and Annabella Bateman, two great-grandchildren, the father of her children, Patrick Guido, her dearest friends Angie Frechette and Gidget Carson, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Oswego EMS and St Joseph’s ICU for the exceptional care they gave Jody in her final days.

If anyone would like to donate in her memory, The Oswego County Humane Society always held a special place in her heart.

Calling hours will be held 11 am to 2 pm, on Wednesday, August 27th, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St. Oswego.
