OSWEGO – John Emerson Snyder, 53, of Baldwinsville, passed away on February 12, 2025. John proved himself a hero after a 4-year long battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Born in Syracuse, he was the son of the late Harold Snyder Sr. and Marjorie Blair.
John earned his B.A. in Public Justice from Oswego State University and his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Syracuse University. John recently retired with 19 years of service as a Senior Parole Officer with the New York State Division of Parole. He also worked part-time as a Medical Social Worker at Crouse Hospital and the Syracuse VA Hospital.
John was a family man, who adored his family and spending time with his wife and children. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed playing pool; 8 ball and 9 ball, and loved to cook.
John is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Bobbi Jo Castaldo Snyder, and his children Ethan Snyder (Kristi Griffiths) and Emerson Snyder (Nora O’Grady). He also leaves behind his brothers Steve Snyder, Charlie Snyder, and Fred Snyder, his sister Laura Blair, his Mother-in-Law, Gale Castaldo, and his Brother-in-Law, Robert G. Castaldo.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Harold Snyder Jr., and Father In Law, Robert R. Castaldo.
