John T. Fultz

OSWEGO – John T. Fultz, 71, of Oswego, passed away on August 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of Mary “Olive” (DeSantis) Fultz and the late Paul E. “Ted” Fultz.

John graduated from Oswego High School and went on to build a lifetime career with the Boilermakers. At the age of 18, he began as an apprentice, and over the next 53 years, he worked his way up to the position of International Vice President for the Northeast Area. John was highly respected and extremely influential in his field. He was a man of integrity and strong character. He was a true Boilermaker and a powerhouse for the union.

The positive impact he had on the lives of thousands of working Boilermakers cannot be overstated. His legacy will live on through the countless members, families, and communities whose lives were made better because of his service.

John loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was proud of his property and loved working outside. His greatest days were when his entire family gathered at his home during Fourth of July week. He loved watching his grandchildren catch frogs from the pond, laugh and play, and ride four-wheelers. His family would pray, while sitting around the bonfire, that no limbs were lost when John and his son-in-law, John, put on their annual spectacular fireworks display.

He loved nothing more than being “Papa” to all of his grandchildren, and he adored his family.

John is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Billaci) Fultz; his mother, Mary “Olive” Fultz; his daughters, Melissa (John) McDonald and Michelle (Mike) McManus; and his son, John T. (Stephanie) Fultz II. He also leaves behind his sister, Elizabeth (Mike) Germain; his brother, Gary (Terry) Fultz; and eight beloved grandchildren: Emma McManus, Meghan McManus, Gracee McDonald, John McDonald III, Ryleigh McDonald, Aubrey Fultz, Hailey Fultz, and John Fultz III. He is also survived by his aunt, Agnes McGann; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Frances Billaci; brothers-in-law, John (Clare) Billaci, Jerry (Elaine) Billaci, and Robby Billaci; sister-in-law, Diane (Mike) Kane; and many dear and special friends.

He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to call from 1 to 5 p.m., with a service to follow, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street.
