OSWEGO – Joseph F. Doviak, 80, of Oswego, New York, passed away peacefully at Oswego Hospital on October 11, 2026, surrounded by his family, who remained by his side until his final breath.

A proud lifelong Oswego resident, Joe was born to the late Joseph and Anne (Jadus) Doviak and grew up as an only child.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 52 years, Regina (Coniski) Doviak and their three daughters, Jennifer (Brian) West of Dunstable, MA; Michelle (Michael) Baroody of Liverpool, NY; and Heather (Steven Burnett) Doviak of Charlottesville, VA. What brought him even more joy, aside from his three daughters, were his five grandchildren: Sophia and Emma West; Kara and Abby Baroody; and his grandson Joey Baroody, who held an extra-special place in his heart as his long-awaited male sidekick.

Joe’s greatest passion in life was golf. He found tremendous joy being out on the golf course. Among his proudest accomplishments was scoring a hole-in-one on the 18th hole at the Oswego Country Club. It was a special achievement that added another treasured memory to a life so richly lived. When not on the golf course, you could find Joe alongside his wife “making donations” to many of the local casinos in the central New York area.

Above all, Joe cherished his family, both immediate and extended, and the countless memories they created together over the years. He set examples of love, responsibility, and respect through his hard work, dedication, and meticulous attention to detail. These were the values he lived by and the lessons he passed along to those he loved.

A private memorial service will be held at Nelson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers or food donations, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Joe Doviak Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will provide a scholarship to a graduating senior on one of the Oswego High School golf teams. Checks can be made payable to the Oswego City School District, with “Doviak Scholarship” written in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Michelle Baroody PO Box 2036 Liverpool, NY 13089

Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
