OSWEGO – Kathleen Mary Shannon, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother bid farewell to this life on August 27, 2024, at the age of 80, after a long-fought battle at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Born and raised in Oswego, New York, she was the daughter of Grace and Hugh Shannon. She retired from National Grid in 2005. At National Grid she worked as an administrative assistant at both Oswego and Watertown offices. Her last position from which she retired was at the National Grid call center in the Syracuse office. Kathy moved to North Port, Florida, in 2008 where she lived out her life.
Kathy is survived by her husband Tom Lawlee, daughter Holly Thompson (Michael Taylor), grandchildren Reece and Quinn, stepchildren Brent Lawlee (Colleen) and Erin Lawlee, and nieces Judy (Phil) Mooney, and Kathleen (Frank) DiRenna, step-grandchildren Ashley, Paxton, and Fiona.
Kathleen loved her family, especially the moments spent with her grandchildren. Kathy chose Florida for her love of beach days. Her lifelong creative pursuits included drawing and painting, but most of all Kathy loved a good book!
The family wishes to recognize and thank the staff, nurses, doctors, and technical support at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital for the six weeks of excellent care that she received there.
A graveside memorial will be held in Oswego, New York, at 11 am on October 11, 2024, at St Peter Cemetery with a memorial luncheon after the service. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
