OSWEGO – Kent P. Woodard Jr, 74, of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on September 6th, 2025. Born on October 15, 1950, in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Kent and Shirley Woodard Sr.
Kent graduated from Cicero North Syracuse High School. He was a US Navy Veteran and served on the USS Thomas J Gary, where he worked as an Engineman (EN3) from 70 to 73. He retired from the US Postal Service Vehicle Maintenance Facilities in 2009 after more than 20 years. He was a military history fanatic and loved reading about history. Kent’s greatest passion was restoring Pontiacs, and he could always be found in the garage tinkering with his projects.
Kent was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty-Jo, his parents Kent and Shirley, and his sister, Brenda.
He is survived by his companion Kathy Pollock; his four daughters Dawn Woodard, Amy (Mike) Cook, Angela (Christopher) Cross, and Jodi Woodard (Will); grandchildren Kayla, Allison, Abby, Samantha, Aloysius, Anastasya, and Robert; stepmother Joanne Woodard; and forever loyal friend Karen Marziale.
There will be no calling hours per Kent’s request, but a graveside service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2 pm at Hillside Cemetery in Central Square. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation httpjjs://t2t.org/
