OSWEGO – Mary B. Capone, 60, of Minetto passed away on December 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of Sam and Phyllis (Murray) Amedio.
Mary was a graduate of Oswego High School. She retired from Oswego County where she worked as the secretary to the county administrator. Mary married her high school sweetheart and raised their three children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her time with her family and cherished time spent with her granddaughter Giada. Mary loved working around her home and enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed cooking. Mary was strong, courageous, and beautiful and will be missed immensely.
In addition to her parents, Mary is survived by her loving husband Donald Capone, children Olivia Ciambriello (Peter) of Syracuse, David Capone (Fiance Ehcy) of Baldwinsville, and Julia Holmquist (Kris) of N. Syracuse, and granddaughter Giada Ciambriello. She also leaves behind her brother John (Bonnie) Amedio, sisters Chris (Gary) Babcock, and Terri Bernys, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister Carol Griffin, brother Sam Amedio Jr., and brother-in-law Edward Bernys.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 2-5 pm at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 West Albany Street. A funeral service will be held on December 6th at 9:30 am at Nelson Funeral Home and burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
