Neil F. Simmons

SCRIBA – Neil F. Simmons, 92, of Scriba passed peacefully on June 11, 2020.

Born and raised in Oswego, he was the son of the late Harry and Doris (Cummins) Simmons.

Neil married his wife, Joan (Lewis) Simmons, and together raised their boys. He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952.

Mr. Simmons was a machine maintenance technician.  He retired from Sealright after more than 40 years.

Neil loved his gardens.  He also loved to work on crossword and sudoku puzzles.  Neil was very mechanically inclined and loved to spend his time tinkering and working on cars.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his three sons, Dennis Simmons of Scriba, Kevin Simmons of Deland Fl., and Daryl (Priscilla) Simmons of Deland Fl., and; his sister, Mary (Mack) Stock of Hannibal; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Neil was predeceased by his brother, Paul Simmons.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 16 at Nelson Funeral Home.  A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will take place in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Nelson Funeral Home.
