OSWEGO – Robert Anthony Marino, 76, of Oswego passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 1, 2024.

Born in Oswego, he was the miracle son of the late Anthony and Eunice (Kandt) Marino, having weighed only 1 lb at birth.

Robert graduated from Oswego High School in 1966. He attended Ohio State and also SUNY Oswego earning multiple degrees.  He earned a Bachelor of Science and Education with a major in Business and also a Master of Science and Education with a major in History.

Robert was employed by the Oswego City School District for 24 years, where he worked as the head custodian at Fitzhugh Park Elementary.  He retired in 1999.

Robert loved to read and was very well-read.  He was also a collector of stamps and coins.  He was a hard worker, a survivor, and loved his family more than anything. He will be missed dearly.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Sherry (Lee) Marino and his “miracle child” daughter Gina Marino (Joshua Sickler).  He also leaves behind his step-children Kelly Lavery (Pat), David Elen (Heather), and Bobby Elen (Ellen), his beloved grandchildren Emily Marino, Victoria Marino, Stephanie Elen, and Jamie Elen, and great-grandchildren Adeline Dudley, Braylin Dudley, and Carson Dudley, as well as his best friend Eugene Knopp.

In following Robert’s wishes his services will be private. Entombment will be held in All Saint’s Mausoleum, St. Peter Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Robert’s name to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
