Robert M. Crist

OSWEGO – Robert M. Crist, 95, from Oswego, passed away at his family home on June 5, 2026, surrounded by family members and caregivers. Born in Albany, NY on February 7, 1931, his parents, Robert M. Sr. and Margaret (Dennin), were proud parents of five children; his brothers John, Donald, Richard, and sister Margaret – Bob was the eldest child. He was a graduate of Schodack Central Schools and Hudson Valley Community College (Engineering Science).

Bob is survived by his loving, devoted and adoring wife, former Patricia (Patty) A. Joyce, having enjoyed 51 years of marriage and their children; daughter, Bonnie and children Justin (Eva) and Christopher (Pamela); son, Dr. Michael (Wendy) and daughter Erin (Adam) Ingram; son, William (Carol) and children, Emily and William (Billy); daughter Lisa (John) Jacobs and children Matthew and Abigail; son David (Jeannie) Buske and children David, Brian (Alexandra), Jonathan (Kendra); and fifteen (15) precious great grandchildren. Tryggvi (TJ) Jonsson and his now wife, Elva Sverrisdottir, from Iceland, continue to be dear family friends, having been part of the Rotary Exchange High School Program.

Bob retired from Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in 1992 as the area manager in Oswego, having served a variety of roles while moving up and within the company and throughout New York State, including Albany, Troy, Niagara Falls, Camillus, and Oswego.

Bob was very active in the greater Oswego community, including Rotary International, past president and Paul Harris Fellow, and later member at Fulton Rotary; Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, past president; United Way of Oswego County; and Oswego Country Club, past president. Bob was a trustee and past chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fulton Savings Bank. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Minetto for many years.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed several recreational activities, including fishing, boating (USCG Captain’s License), hunting (Tamarack Hunting Club), snowmobiling, and, especially, golf. He enjoyed leisure time with family and friends and was known for his positive outlook on life, his charitable interests, as well as his camaraderie and fellowship with friends and acquaintances alike. Patty and Bob lived a storied life traveling through the U.S. and Europe as a couple and with family and friends, as well as a seasonal residence for twenty-one years at Six Lakes Country Club in North Fort Myers, Florida.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Richard, in 2017.
