Ronald “Ron” G. Tesoriero Jr.

OSWEGO – Ronald “Ron” G. Tesoriero Jr., 68, of Oswego, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family following a short battle with cancer on September 25, 2026.

Born June 15, 1958, in Oswego, Ron was the son of the late Ronald G. Sr. and Mary Ellen (Matott). A lifelong Oswego resident, Ron graduated from Oswego Catholic High School – Class of 1976, where he played football. His love of sports continued throughout his life, including many years playing men’s softball, enjoying a round of golf, and coaching his sons in Oswego Little League with the Lake City Police Club.

Ron began his career working alongside his family at J&K Boiler and joined Local 73 Plumbers and Pipefitters in 1978. Following the sale of the family business, he worked on the construction of Nine Mile Point Unit 2 and went on to work on numerous projects throughout Central New York, including time at Alcan, before ultimately joining Sithe Energy, where he retired as a Maintenance Manager. A skilled and respected tradesman, Ron also served as an apprentice instructor for Local 73, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of plumbers and pipefitters.

Following his retirement, Ron continued to put his experience to work in service to his hometown as a plumbing inspector for the City of Oswego. He also served his community as the Sixth Ward Councilor on the Oswego Common Council.

Outside of work, Ron could often be found taking meticulous care of his lawn, cheering on the New York Yankees, or spending time as a member of the Gosek “00” Racing Team. A skilled tradesman even when he was off the clock, Ron was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors with a home project or simply help solve a problem. But more than anything, he enjoyed being surrounded by the people he loved.

Together, Ron and Maureen were most proud of the family they built—raising their two sons and watching that family grow to include their daughters-in-law and, ultimately, the grandchildren who brought Ron so much joy.

Of all the titles Ron held throughout his life, one of his favorites was simply “Papa.” He treasured his grandchildren, Gabriella, Margaret, and Nicholas, and some of the best times were often the simplest ones— spending time together in the garage, working on projects, or just being together.

Ron was funny and hardworking, and those who knew him knew that he believed life was meant to be enjoyed. In keeping with Ron’s wishes, he would want those who knew and loved him not only to mourn his passing, but to laugh, share stories, enjoy one another’s company, and have a good time remembering the life they shared with him.

Ron is survived by his wife, Maureen (Galvin), whom he married on April 12, 1980; his sons, Ronald III (Jessica) and Robert (Kathryn); his grandchildren, Gabriella, Margaret, and Nicholas; his sister, Terri (David) Goodness; as well as extended family, longtime neighborhood friends, racing friends, and many others fortunate enough to have shared in his life.

 Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the Nelson Funeral Home, with a prayer service immediately following. Private entombment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oswego.
