William “Bill” F. Ravas

OSWEGO – William “Bill” F. Ravas, 79, of Oswego passed away on August 11th, 2024,  with his loving family by his side, after a brief illness.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Gunther) Tonkin and stepson of Nancy Ravas.

Bill was a graduate of Oswego High School.  He was a sheet metal worker for Local 58, Syracuse, and retired in 2004, after 37 years of employment. He also worked for Oswego County Family Court as a court attendant since 2015.  He was an outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish and also loved motorcycling with his 1979 Harley. He was an active member of the Oswego Elks Club #271 for more than 50 years.   Bill was a loving husband and father and a good friend to many.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Cheryl (Stevens) Ravas, and his daughter Tammy Lynn Ravas of Montana.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Ravas.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 2-4 pm with a service to follow, with Rev. James Tschudy. Donations can be made in Bill’s name to Oswego Elks Club.
