OSWEGO – William Roy Taylor, known to many as Bill or Pa, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at the age of 91.
Bill grew up in Hannibal, NY, and spent his life in Oswego, NY, where he built a home rooted in family, hard work, and tradition. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962. On April 20, 1963, he married his beloved wife, Joan Taylor (Donabella), beginning a marriage filled with devotion and family.
Bill spent many years working at the Fulton Paper Mill and Alcan, retiring at age 54 as a Cold Mill Foreman. He later served his community as a crossing guard, and ultimately dedicated himself full-time to his proudest role — being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was fiercely stubborn, famously grumpy, strong, kind, and funny, and so deeply loved by everyone who knew him. Bill cherished his family and especially loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports — rarely missing a game and always cheering them on. He also enjoyed watching his favorite western cowboy movies, sitting on his front porch, drinking his Pepsi, and doing things his own way.
Bill was predeceased by his father, Donald J. Taylor; his mother, Elsie June Scoville; and his brother, Joseph Taylor.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joan Taylor (Donabella); his brother, George Taylor; his children, William J. Taylor, Daniel Taylor, Ann Marie Thompson (Julian Thompson), and Denise Demong (Tim Knopp); his grandchildren, McKenzie Demong, Taylor Muldoon (Michael Muldoon), Morgan Demong, Kennedy Thompson, Stephen Demong (Celina Demong), Madelaine Taylor, Reagan Thompson, McKinley Thompson, Aidan Taylor, and Alex Taylor; his great-grandchildren, Carter Donovan, Emery Muldoon, and Alivia Muldoon; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, services will be private.
Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
