PHOENIX, NY – Celia J. Beckwith, 85, of Phoenix (town of Lysander), passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Terri Beckwith, on Sunday November 25, 2012.
She was born in Binghamton, NY, to her late parents, Winifred E. (Nabinger) and Arnold R. Yaple on May 6, 1927.
She was a graduate of high school, and later became wife, mother, and homemaker.
Celia loved music.
She was a singer, pianist and played the cello very well.
A collector of antiques and an avid gardener, were also her interests.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Gerald F. Beckwith in 2004; a daughter, Betty Salmon in 2006; and her brother, Buz Finch.
Surviving are her three daughters and a son and their spouses, Janet Frost, Marilyn and Hugh Crawford, Terrie Beckwith and James Vanholtz, and Gerry “Pete” and Sherrie Beckwith; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.
Burial will be the following day at noon in Afton Glenwood Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Afton, NY, in Chenango County.
