Dan typed his own discharge papers and was discharged in March 1948.

Dan gained some notoriety for achieving a perfect grade in regents exams in advanced algebra, chemistry and trigonometry.

Dan graduated from Le Moyne College in 1952 and began his work career with Westinghouse in Springfield, Mass., and Sharon, Pa.

He moved with his young, growing family back to Central New York in 1957 after taking a position with Carrier.

In 1961 the family moved to Oswego and Dan began a long career with Alcan Aluminum working in various industrial engineering positions.

Dan retired from Alcan in 1985.
