Dorothy W. Hoysic, 87

OSWEGO, NY – Dorothy W. Hoysic, 87, a resident of Oswego, formally of Wolcott, passed away Wednesday May 23, 2012, at St. Luke Health Services.

Born in Rochester, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Semler) Wehner.

Dorothy graduated from Nazareth Academy and later from Nazareth College of Rochester.

She was a homemaker, and had previously worked for St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, as a lab technician.

In the Diocese of Rochester she was an active volunteer and volunteered for Cursillo, teen seminars, Genesis, and the family camp at Koinonia.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and was a mother of eight.

Surviving are her daughters, Jean (William) Gamble, Ruth (Gordon) Keenan and Nancy (Steve) Gant; her sons, Stephen (Joy Landauer-Hoysic) Hoysic, David (Mary) Hoysic and Paul (Sylvane) Hoysic; daughter-in-law, Eileen Hoysic; 11 grandchildren, Robert, Benjamin, Peter, Susan, John, Paul, Thomas, Elizabeth, Victoria, Sophia and Justin; and one great-grandchild, Olivia Jean (Benjamin) Gamble.

She was predeceased by her husband, George T. Hoysic, in 1996; her daughter, Judith Hoysic; and her son, Christopher Hoysic.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Wolcott.

Burial will be in Huron Evergreen Cemetery, Wolcott.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Magdalene Church, Catholic Community of the Blessed Trinity, 11956 Washington St. Wolcott, NY 14590.
