OSWEGO, NY – Douglas A. Dempsey, 65, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday March 6, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of the late Donald and Velma (Bobish) Dempsey.
Doug was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa at the College of William and Mary.
He retired in October of 2012, after 24 years as a Nuclear Regulatory Commission Inspector for NRC.
Doug enjoyed reading, boating, traveling to Poland and history, including World War II history and was a coffee roaster and partner at Cidermoon.
He had a strong faith in God.
Surviving are his wife, Diane (Roberts) Dempsey; two daughters, Catherine Dempsey and Elizabeth Dempsey both of Providence, RI; one son, William Dempsey of Providence, RI; two step-daughters, Tiffany Todd and Emily (Matt) Jones; three grandchildren, Cullen Dempsey, Michaela Lemon and Lily Jones.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
