Edward C. Geers

OSWEGO, NY – Edward C. Geers, born on September 4, 1932, a lifelong resident of Oswego, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego, with his loving family at his side.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Edward A. and Hilda (Zyski) Geers, and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

Mr. Geers was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Army.

Prior to his retirement, he was in the grocery business, including the Bosco & Geers Food Market, for more than 50 years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved being with his family, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His wife of 58 years, Anna (Bosco) Geers, passed away on March 13, 2013.

He is survived by his five children, Edward (Tammy) Geers, Theresa Miller, Betty (Robin) Emond, Robert Geers and Daniel (Lori) Geers; eleven grandchildren, Larry (Melissa Hayes) Miller, Heather (Shane) Donath, Elizabeth (Josh) Crannell, Dustin (Liz Taylor) Geers, Theresa Emond, Christopher Emond, Alexys Geers, Alyson Geers, Justin Geers, Michael Geers and Samantha Geers; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Gioia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Robbins; a sister-in-law, June Robbins; a brother-in-law Steve Gioia Sr., a son-in-law, Lawrence Miller; and a nephew, William Musacchio.

His family would like to express their gratitude to the St. Luke’s A-Wing staff for all of their dedicated care.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
