OSWEGO, NY – Frances Ellen Finnegan Borland, age 56, went “Where Irish angels gather ‘round, heavenly joy and love abound” on Friday May 27, 2011.

She was at home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of the late Bernard A. and Charlotte C. Finnegan, beloved wife of Harold Glen Borland III.

She is survived by daughters, Bridget and Colleen and son Hal Borland IV. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Mary Borland, brother-in-law Gary  (Darlyn) Borland and sister-in-law, Gail Davis. Siblings surviving her, Karen (Jim) Decker of
Greenville, NC, Peggy (Peter) Tombolillo, Bernice (Bill) Strother, Roseanne (Tanner) Leto, Bernard (Cindy) Finnegan and Daniel (Chris) Finnegan, all of Oswego. Her loyal canine companions, Sophie and Scruffy. She also leaves nieces, nephews and many great friends.

Frances was a graduate of Oswego High School and attended Morrisville College.

She retired in 2010, due to illness, from Novelis where she worked for 25 years and previously worked for Nationwide Insurance.

She also worked at Bosco and Geers.

Her many hobbies included knitting beautiful hats for everyone who was in need of one.

She enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens and home canning the fruit of her and Glen’s labor.

Frances was a most fitting name for her, like St. Francis of Assisi she was a lover of all animals and never was without a minimum of two four-legged friends in her household.

Her many attributes of being a giving, caring, and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to meet her.

Frannie fought a tough battle with pancreatic cancer over the last year and did not lose hope.

She kept her faith, courage and belief that eventually her spirit would be reunited in eternal life with her mother who predeceased her in 2009, who she missed so dearly
on earth.

Thank you to her dear friends from Novelis Corporation, Bosco and Geers for their prayers, kindness and support.

Thank you to Tracey and crew from Oswego County Hospice and Lucy from Critical Care for the compassionate care.

A fancier home chemotherapy fanny pack was worn by Frannie and in memory of her, there will be a fund set up to make fanny packs to donate to chemotherapy patients.

Checks can be made out to “Frannies Fanny Pack Fund” C/O Cindy Finnegan, 171 Woolson Road, Oswego, N.Y. 13126.
