OSWEGO, NY – Gene F. Neild, 68, a resident of Volney, passed away Sunday August 18, 2013, at Seneca Hill Manor.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Earl and Lucille (Tanner-Hort) Neild.
Gene was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam era.
After the service, Gene worked as an Apprentice Electrician for Shaffers and was a member of the local I.B.E.W.
In 1981, he worked at Cherry-Burrell, which later became International Paper, retiring in 2003.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a talented woodworker.
Surviving are his wife, Alice (Irland) Neild; three daughters, Bonnie (Roy) LoVine of Oswego, Cielle (James) Tovey of Oswego and Anne (Eric) Jensen of Waterloo; three sisters, Barbara Fitzgerald of Oswego, Bonnie Sherwood of Oswego and Verna Kelly of Tully; three stepsons; five stepdaughters; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Deann Neild, in 1991; and by his sister, Brenda Church, in 2011.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego, with a service to follow.
