George H. Curran, 91

OSWEGO, NY – George H. Curran, 91, a resident of the Johnson Road in the town of Oswego, passed away Saturday December 27, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.

Mr. Curran was born in Oswego, the son of the late George and Anna (McElhone) Curran.

He was a life resident.

He was a veteran the US Army, serving in World War II.

He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed, for many years, as a maintenance supervisor with SUNY-Oswego.

Mr. Curran was a member of the VFW Post #5885, the American Legion, the Oswego Moose Club and the Oswego Hibernians Club.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice (James) Curran, whom he married on May 29, 1948; two daughters, Rita (Roger) Baack of Spring, Texas, and Georgianna (Alan) Butler of Oswego; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Wilfred and Harold Curran; and two sisters, Katherine Brown and Irene Vandish.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
