George Mark Mills Sr., 60, of Pennellville, passed away on Thursday Aug. 22, 2013, at the V.A. Medical Center, Syracuse.
He was born to in Fulton, NY, on April 26, 1953.
He was a 1971 graduate of J. C. Birdlebough High School, Phoenix, NY, where he was an athlete lettering in football and track & field.
George served 20 years in the U.S. Navy, later working for Carrier Corp., Syracuse.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 418, and the V.F.W. Post 5540 both in Phoenix; Fleet
Reserves in Groton, Conn.
He was predeceased by his son, George M. Mills Jr. on 10/24/1998; his mother, Anna (Carey) Mills on 2/2/2011; his father, George I. Mills 5/21/1988; and two brothers, William in 1990, and Daniel in 2001.
Surviving are his loving wife of 39 years, Catherine (Milligan) Mills; his son and daughter-in-law, William and Stacey Mills of Ira; his grandson, Austin Mills; four siblings Marguerite Sotherden, Patrick Mills, and Violet Goodnow all of Pennellville, and Bonnie Shelton of El Paso, Texas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Frank Forish officiating all in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.
Burial with military and post honors, with the Rev. Philip Brockmyer officiating will be on Friday Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. in Pennellville Cemetery, County Route 54, Pennellville.
