Joan Ann Greeney

OSWEGO, NY – Joan Ann Greeney entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 16, 2013, after a brief illness at Upstate Medical Hospital, Syracuse.

She was surrounded by her loving children.

Joan was born March 21, 1934, in Oswego where she lived all her life.

She was the daughter of Albert Joseph and Gladys Viola Nearbin.

She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack) Greeney Sr.; and her sisters, Mary Gioia, Shirley Thompson and Sally Matott.

Joan had many fond memories working as a nurse’s assistant at Oswego Hospital where she took pleasure in caring for patients.

She enjoyed spending time at her camp in Sterling, where she cared for any of God’s creatures who needed food and attention.

She loved to garden and watch the sunsets over the lake, but above all her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Mahlmann of Schenectady, John C. (Lori) Greeney Jr., Theresa (Daniel) Potter, Mary Beth (Brian) Wyman and JoAnn Wall, all of Oswego.

She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Mahlmann-Rovery, Melissa Mahlmann, Robby Greeney, Justin (Monica) Greeney, Kylie and Bradley Wyman, Jonathan Wall; and her adored great-grandson, Ryan Greeney.

She is also survived by her sisters, Betty (Almore) Miller, Jacqueline Ponzi, Bonnie (Larry)  Mcrae and Gladys (Edward) Woodworth.

Upon her wishes there will be no services.

Contributions can be made to the charity of choice.
