OSWEGO, NY – John T. Ryan, 85, a resident of 86 W. Mohawk St., Oswego passed away Wednesday morning Nov. 10, 2010, at his home.
He was born in Syracuse and was the son of the late Walter and Helen Hartigan Ryan.
Mr. Ryan was a member of Ironworkers Local 60 and had been employed of various projects throughout Central New York.
Mr. Ryan served in the US Army during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 268 and was a past commander.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed golfing and reading.
He is survived by his daughter, Jacalyn A. Ryan of Oswego; four sisters, Shirley Lemcke of Connecticut, Gloria Ferrell of Radison, Margaret Brady and Donna Kaiser both of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his wife, Claire Mae Ryan, who died in September of 2006; and his son, John “Timmy” Ryan, who died in 1968.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in Peck’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
