Joseph J. Lupa, 81

OSWEGO, NY – Joseph J. Lupa, 81, a resident of Oswego, passed away Tuesday June 25, 2013, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Peter and Apolonia (Malec) Lupa.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Joseph worked as a self employed insurance broker.

He was a member of the Shriners, Oswego and Kissimmee, Fla., Elks and Moose Club, VFW 5885, 268 American Legion, and Oswego Masons.

He was an avid vinyl record collector, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Hedger of Washington, Sharon (Paul) Kappus of Nevada and Karen French of Pennsylvania; three sons, Kevin (Lisa) Lupa of New Jersey, Steven (Helene) Lupa of Nevada and Brian (Lorgia) Lupa of Florida; brother, Paul E. “Gene” Lupa; sister, Bertha Kalafarski of Fulton; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Joanne, in 2007; two brothers, Peter and John Lupa; four sisters, Helen Cook, Mary Lupa, Sophie Coniski, and Nellie Osetek; and grandson, Michael Abare.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial mass will be held 1 p.m. on Friday at St. Stephen’s Church, Oswego.

Burial will be private.
