Josephine B. Baker, 89

OSWEGO, NY – Josephine B. Baker, 89, a resident of Oswego, passed away, Wednesday February 12, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.

Born June 7, 1924, in Oswego, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Saltalamachia) Natoli.

She shared her birthday with her mom.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband of 66 ½ years, Robert F. Baker.

She is survived by her three children: two sons, Robert (Lynda) Baker and William (Irene) Baker and a daughter, Bonnie (Russell) Keene.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Cynthia (Jeff) Marra, Bobbi (Mathew Allen) Norton, Faith (Timothy) McCarthy, Robert (Gabrielle) Baker, Andrea (Harry) Bickford and Jeannie (Thomas) Montante; seventeen and a half great-grandchildren; and two great- great-granddaughters.

She was also predeceased by her great-grandson, Joseph McCarthy.

Born third of 10 children, she is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Williams, Binghamton. NY.

Her eight siblings predeceased her John, George, Richard, Sam and Joseph Natoli and sisters, Kathryn Cross, Angeline Burch and Rose Izzo.

Josephine loved her family and always showed them by baking, cakes, pies and cookies.

She also put on many holiday feasts, as she loved having family all around.

In earlier years, she used to cook for soldiers at Fort Ontario and invite them to the family home, as they lived close by.

She was an avid bingo player and hunted with her husband.

She was also bookkeeper for the family business.

Calling hours will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, with a service to follow, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
