OSWEGO, NY – Laverne F. “Jerry” Stevens, 92, a former resident of Scriba, passed away Wednesday February 25, 2015, at Morningstar Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Stevens was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Frederick and Kathleen Buske Stevens.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
Mr. Stevens retired from Flexo Wire Company as a shipping foreman and had previously worked at Fitzgibbons Boiler Works.
He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved gardening.
He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and a lifetime resident of the Oswego area.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife of 72 years, Doris Wilson Stevens; one daughter, Bonnie Dekay of Verona; one son, Bruce (Connie) Stevens of Scriba; three grandchildren, Amy (Rick Wallace) Jesgarzewski, Lisa (Chris) Detor and Michael (Melissa) Stevens; five great-grandchildren, Ryan Jesgarzewski, Evan Jesgarewski, Lillian Detor, Catherine Detor and Joseph Stevens.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions may be made in Mr. Stevens’ memory to a charity of one’s choice.
