Leah May Michels-Hollingsworth, 91

PHOENIX, NY – Leah May Michels-Hollingsworth, 91, a former Phoenix, NY, resident, passed away in New London, Wisconsin on October 18, 2011.

She was born to her late parents, Ruth (Lewis) and John W. Oakes.

Leah was a graduate of Syracuse University, Class of 1940.

She was a life member of the Phoenix Fire Department Auxiliary, served two terms as a board member for Phoenix Central Schools, was the secretary of the Eastern Star Chapter 172, Phoenix and was a volunteer at Community General Hospital, town of Onondaga.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was predeceased by her two husbands, Edward J. “Ted” Michels and Robert B. Hollingsworth.

Surviving are her two sons, Edward  J. Michels of Clearwater, Fla. and John Lee Michels of New London, Wisc.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on two separate days.

A graveside ceremony will be at 4 p.m. on Friday in Jacksonville Cemetery, 9250 Fenner Road, Lysander and at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Phoenix United Methodist Church, 49 Jefferson St., Phoenix.

The Rev. Joseph Kim will be officiating.
