OSWEGO, NY – Margaret C. O’Donnell, 87, passed away on Sunday June 14, 2015, in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Margaret was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Frederick and Irene (Shannon) O’Donnell.
She lived in Syracuse for many years before moving to Saratoga Springs to be closer to family members.
Margaret attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a 1945 graduate of Oswego High School.
She was a graduate of SUNY-Oswego, receiving her degree from the School of Education.
Prior to her 1989 retirement, she was employed, for many years, as an elementary school teacher in the Syracuse School District.
Margaret is survived by 10 nieces and nephews, David (Patricia) Covell of Saratoga Springs, Michael (Cathy) Covell of Monterey, Mass., Brian (Diane) Clancy of Winthrop, Mass., Carol Clancy of Oneida, NY, Nora (Daniel) Flynn of Raleigh, NC, Paul Clancy of Grand Rapids, Mich., Brad Clancy of Raleigh, NC, Joan Soderquist of Watertown, NY, Mark (Cindy) Keegan of Anchorage, Alaska and Lauren (Douglas) Shackleton of The Woodlands, Texas; a brother-in-law, David Clancy of Oneida; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Mary O’D Keegan, Martha O’D Covell and Harriet O’D Clancy; and a nephew, John Covell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions in Margaret’s memory can be made to the charity of choice.
