Morretta ‘Mort’ J. Demm, 79

OSWEGO, NY – Morretta “Mort” J. Demm, 79, of Oswego, passed away Saturday July 18, 2015, at St. Luke Heath Facility.

Born in Canonsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anna Cook and Herbert Smith Sr.

She moved up from Pennsylvania at the age of 12 to Hannibal Center and graduated Hannibal Central High School.

She retired as senior vice president on July 31, 1996, from Oswego County Savings Bank after 29 years.

She was a former member of numerous business and civic organizations.

She was a loving mother and grandmother.

She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas and Turning Stone.

She loved driving her golf cart to visit family.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra (Timothy) Logan of Oswego; three sons, Charles W. II (Anne) Demm of Oswego, Daniel L. (Julia) Demm of Oswego and Edward Demm  (Pam McLaughlin) of Oswego; five brothers, John (Jean) Smith of Mississippi, Herbert Smith Jr. of Fair Haven, William Smith of Baldwinsville, Wayne Smith of Oswego and Warren (Vicki) Smith of Baldwinsville; five grandchildren: Meghan Demm, Morgan (Mike) Cazzolli, Edward Demm, Adam Demm and Daniel Demm; two great-grandchildren: Brenna  Cazzolli and Adriana Cazzolli; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Demm Sr.

Calling hours will be held 2-5 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
