OSWEGO, NY – Robert F. Hammond, 91, a resident of Simeon-Dewitt Apartments in Oswego, passed away Friday June 20, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Hammond was born in Oswego, the son of the late Vernon and Jenny (West) Hammond.
He was a life resident.
He was a veteran of the US Army, and served as a medic in India during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed, for 35 years, at the Niagara Mohawk Steam Station in Oswego.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Earhart of Oswego, Nancy Gilbert of Oswego, April (Daniel) Cregg of California and Annette (Kevin) Geers of Oswego; seven grandchildren, Nicole Cregg Yates, Brittany Gilbert, Megan Gilbert, Adam Cregg, Courtney Geers, Erick Earhart and Stephen Geers; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Angela (Flora) Hammond; a daughter, Holly Jo Thompson; a brother, John “Jack” Hammond; and two sisters, Betty Wall and Mary Palmer.
Funeral services will be private.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St. in Oswego.
