Ruth A. Woodworth, 79

OSWEGO, NY – Ruth A. Woodworth, 79, a resident of Oswego, died Monday July 13, 2015, at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare in Utica, NY.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Isabelle (Fry) Engle Fletcher.

She graduated local schools, including Oswego Center District School #10 and Oswego High School.

Ruth loved Oswego and its rich history.

She was a proud Oswegonian.

She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the Art Guild and choir of The Church of the Resurrection.

She was an avid reader.

Ruth was a volunteer at St. Luke Health Facility and the Oswego Public Library.

She was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award by President Obama.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise Woodworth (David Naherny) of Pennsylvania and Diane Woodworth of North Syracuse; three sons, Donald (Cathy) Woodworth of Manchester, NY, Bruce Woodworth of Brewerton, NY and Kenneth Woodworth of East Syracuse; two brothers, Paul (Becki) Engle of Chesnee, SC, and Richard (Ellen) Engle of West Edmeston, NY; five sisters: Thelma Johnson of Oswego, Beverly Victory of Fulton, Mary Millis of San Jose Calif., Lois Beshures of Oswego and Alice Sivers of Key West Fla.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Parrish, Leah Woodworth, Kenneth Woodworth Jr., Natalie Woodworth and Stephanie Woodworth; three great-great grandchildren, Violet Parrish, Tanner Woodworth and Jacob Paijean; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Walter; a niece, Dale Victory; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; and granddaughter, Tana Woodworth.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Burial will be held in Fairdale Cemetery.

Calling hour will be held 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
