Shirley Eleanor DeVita, 86

PHOENIX, NY – Shirley  Eleanor DeVita, 86, of Phoenix, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, on Monday April 1, 2013.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1926, to her late parents, Gladys (Townsend) and Harry Williams in Phoenix.

Shirley was a homemaker and was employed by Phoenix Central Schools for many years.

She enjoyed going to the casinos, and played Bunco with her friends.

Shirley was an avid bowler, too.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Doreen Gardner; her son-in-law, Dana P. Gardner; and her granddaughter, Donja L. Gardner in 1980; and her sisters and brothers.

Surviving are her loving husband of 67 years, Neil A. DeVita Sr.; her son and his companion, Neil A. DeVita Jr. and Karen Rupe of Fulton; two grandchildren, Angela DeVita and Nathaniel DeVita; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Shirley’s wishes, there were no calling hours or funeral service.

She was buried in Chase Cemetery, Lysander.
