Theresa J. Marshall, 93

OSWEGO, NY – Theresa J. Marshall, 93, a resident of Jackim Road, Town of Oswego, passed away Monday August 26, 2013, at St. Luke Health Services, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Giacomo and Theresa Rose (Taormina) Furnari.

During World War II, Theresa was employed as the only woman in the art department of Taggert. This earned her the honor of shaking hands with the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, when she visited Oswego.

Theresa was a founding member and the first president of the Oswego Art Guild.

She was a member of the Oswego City Woman’s Club.

She was very creative, artistic and an accomplished seamstress who made her own clothes.

She enjoyed dancing with her husband, painting, bridge, and playing Scrabble on her computer.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was famous for her Sunday family spaghetti dinners.

Surviving are her sister, Lillian Morgia of Oswego; her daughter, Carol (Joseph) Jadus of Oswego; two sons, Robert (Florence) Marshall of Lewes, Delaware and Thomas (Katherine) Marshall of Oswego; seven grandchildren, Mark (Catherine) Jadus, Michael (Ann) Jadus, Heather (Jeff Colasurdo) Jadus, Susie (Toby) Bassett, Mary Loli (Keith) Moshier, Roy Marshall and Andrew Marshall; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Marshall; and four brothers, Joseph Furnari, Stephen Furnari, Peter Furnari and Sam Furnari.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
