Wesley A. Johnson, 95

OSWEGO, NY –  Wesley A. Johnson, 95, a resident of Sandy Creek, passed away Monday October 13, 2014, in Galax, Va.

Born in Oswego Town, he was the son of the late George and Marion (Laurent) Johnson.

Wesley was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1944-1946, During World War II and the Korean War.

He retired as a control room operator for Niagara Mohawk after 37 years.

He enjoyed square dancing.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel (Adams) Johnson; one son, Wesley Johnson of Oswego Town; one sister, Doris Wiggins of Auburn; sister-in-law, Gladys Johnson of Oswego Town; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Mildred Schweitzer; two brothers, Leroy Johnson and Paul Johnson; and three sisters, Jeanette Victory, Evelyn Lawton and Rose Scruton.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Journey of Faith United Methodist Church Community Center, formerly Oswego Center Church.

Burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
