William D. Grattan, 68

OSWEGO, NY – William D. Grattan, 68, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Oswego, NY, on Thursday Dec. 27, 2012.

He was a native of Lebanon, Pa., and was the son of Louise G. (Glassmoyer) Grattan, Lebanon, Pa., and the late Dennis J. Grattan.

He had retired from the city of Allentown, Pa., Waste Management Department.

During his high school years, he was very active in the plays at Lebanon High School.

He was an avid baseball and football fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles and was an active member of the Chemical Fire Co. in Lebanon, Pa.

He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1962, and enlisted in the US Navy.

He served aboard the USS Enterprise in Viet Nam.

He is survived by his mother of Lebanon; his sister, Trudy Carmany of Lebanon; a niece, Erin Carmany of Lebanon; a nephew, Jason (and Lacy) Carmany of Bradford, Pa.;  a grand-niece, Breanna Carmany; his daughter, Lynn Haupt of Allentown; two grandsons, Zachary and Robert Jr.; and his fiancé, Diana Gordon of Oswego, with whom he resided.

He was predeceased by his wife, Chong Grattan.

He was called Bill or Billie, depending on who you were in our family.

He was a happy-go-lucky type of guy, who would do anything for anyone.

He had a big heart to match his big stature.

Services will be private.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
