OSWEGO – November 7, 2023, Anita Phelps, 75; of Scriba, NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, after courageously enduring a long illness.
Anita was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Harvey and Myrtle (Feyerabend) Greene. She has been a longtime resident of New Haven, NY and in retirement, she and her husband enjoyed 12 years in Maine before moving back 4 years ago to Scriba, NY. Mrs. Phelps was past employed with Morrisville College and later retired from Oswego County Boces. Anita’s first love was her family and she always enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. She was also an avid reader.
Mrs. Phelps was pre-deceased by her son: Erik Phelps in 2019, her grandson Tristan Strong and her sister Linda Johnson.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by her husband of 46 years Leslie “Lee” Phelps of Scriba, NY; their children and sons-in-law: Shannon and Ron Strong of Oswego, Beth and Andrew Foxenberg of Kirkville, NY; her 5 siblings: Patricia Souva of New Haven, NY; Phyllis Hartman of MD; Dorian Thomas of Camillus, NY; Elizabeth Meyer of Cliffton Park, NY; Leah Delaney of Oneida, NY; 3 grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Alexander Strong and Lilian Squire and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held privately at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. 4th St., Oswego. Burial will be conducted privately.
There will be no calling hours.
