Charles Callen

FULTON – February 13, 2024, Charles Callen, 97; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully Tuesday, February 13th after a short illness.

Mr. Callen was born in Scriba, NY to the late James and Jennie Helena (Seymour) Callen.  He remained a lifetime resident of Fulton, NY.  Mr. Callen owned and operated Callen Contracting Company, Fulton.  He was a hard worker continuing work into his late 70’s.  Mr. Callen was a lifetime member of the Fulton VFW Post #569 and served on the Funeral Honor Guard Detail for several years.  He was also a past member of the Harold J. Flynn Hibernians, Fulton.  Charles was a man who enjoyed life, laughter and joking.  He received joy making others laugh even right to the end.

Mr. Callen was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth Callen and his 13 siblings:  Thomas, Joseph, James, John, William, Anna, Catherine, Daniel, George, Robert, Frederick, Julia and Alice.

He was survived by his 7 children:  Kathleen (Dennis) McCollum of Oswego, NY; Michael Callen of TX; Mary Anne (Daniel) Baum of Sterling, NY; Timothy Callen of Syracuse, NY; Patricia (John) Harrington of Syracuse, NY; John Callen of WI; and Thomas (Kristin) Callen of Rochester, NY; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 20th at Holy Trinity Parish, Fulton where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Joseph Scardella.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.

There will be no calling hours.

The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S., Fulton, NY has care of the arrangements.
