Charles T. Cieszeski, 89

FULTON, NY – Charles Cieszeski, 89, of Fulton, passed away Saturday February 16, 2013.

Born in Neffs, Ohio, he was the son of the late Adam and Mary Cieszeski.

Charles was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Frances (Harman) Cieszeski, in 2004.

He was also predeceased by his sister, Jesse Robbins.

Surviving are his daughter, Connie (Barry) Tompkins and his son, Charles (Jeanne) Cieszeski of Fulton.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Karey (William) Pine, Amy (Jonathon) Johnston, Andrew O’B Cieszeski, Julia Cieszeski and Gina Babcock; great-grandchildren, Olivia Pine and Audrey, Tavish and Samuel Johnston; brother, Frank Cieszeski of Neffs, Ohio, and sisters, Freda Jarrett of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Elizabeth Shultz of Shadyside, Ohio.

Charles earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Marietta (Ohio) College in 1949 and did graduate work at Ohio State and Syracuse universities.

He taught high school science in Plain City, Ohio, before joining the Nestle Company.

Charles worked for Nestles in Marysville, Ohio, and Freehold, New Jersey, before moving to Fulton in 1957 where he ultimately retired as Fulton plant manager in 1986.

Charles served in the South Pacific as a member of United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Throughout his life Charles was active in many professional and civic organizations including the board of trustees of Fulton Savings Bank, board of trustees of the First Baptist Church of Fulton, Fulton Rotary Club, Fulton industrial Management Club, and Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Church of Fulton with Rev. David Nethercott officiating.

Burial will be held in the spring at Fairdale Cemetery, Hannibal.

Calling hours will be conducted 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton.
