Dr. John F. Corso, Ph.D., 93

OSWEGO, NY – Dr. John F. Corso, 93, of Mexico, NY, died in Oswego Hospital on Thursday April 25, 2013.

He was born in Oswego, son of Onofrio and Santa Corso.

Dr. Corso was a World War II United States Army veteran and a Bronze Star recipient.

He was a Distinguished Professor of Psychology, widely published in professional journals, and author of two scholarly textbooks.

Dr. Corso worked at the Pennsylvania State University for 10 years and was chairman of the Psychology Department at SUNY Cortland for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Schwab Corso; children, Dr. Gregory (Catherine) Corso, Douglas Corso, and Christine Corso Baranak.

He has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anne’s Mother of Mary Church, Mexico, where Rev. John Canorro will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial.

Committal services will be held at All Saints’ Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego, where the Mexico VFW Post #369 will bestow military honors.

Entombment will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Oswego.

Calling hours will be conducted Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.
