OSWEGO – Edward J. “Over” Scruton, 67, of Oswego Town, died Thursday September 3, 2026 at Seneca Hill Manor.
Ed was born in Oswego the son of the late Harold and Shirley (Perry) Scruton. He worked for the Laborers Local # 214, Oswego at the Nuclear Power Plants, then moved to Anaheim, California where he worked for John DeLorean Motors as a mechanic before becoming the number one test driver for DeLoren Motors. Upon returning to Oswego, he became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 158, Syracuse, working many jobs with Dan Ferlito Construction, where he completed his career. Ed enjoyed hunting, racing motor cross, Indro, and Pure Stock racing, winning several races.
He is survived by his life partner Carolyn Barker of Oswego their son Edward H. Scruton of Oswego, his twin grandsons Cyrus E. and Zayden E. Scruton. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara (Joe) Russell of TN, Bonnie McCormack of AR, William (Audna) Scruton of Oswego Town, and special friends Chuck and Anne Demm, Lynn Cooper and John (Knute) Shannon, and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Ed’s wishes funeral services and burial will be private.
