Eleanor Fisher

FULTON – February 10, 2025, Eleanor Fisher, 92, of Phoenix, NY passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, February 10th, 2025.

Eleanor was born to Claude P. and Ora (Dolbear) Wallace in 1933. She was a longtime resident of Fulton along with her husband John, where they raised 3 children. Together, they were devoted parents and would be seen supporting their children at the YMCA pool, soccer fields and the local skating rink. This devotion and love continued with their grandchildren whom they spent as much time with as possible.  Eleanor was employed with the Fulton Consolidated School District for 18 years.  Her last position being a cashier for the lunch program. She always kept her own cash on hand to help any student who needed help paying for their lunch.

Eleanor also was employed for 12 years as an Account Clerk with the Fulton City Police.

After retirement, winters were spent in St. Petersburg, Florida.

She was a former communicant of Holy Family and St. Michael’s Churches. Together with her husband, they were members of the Fulton Garden Club.  Eleanor loved plants and flowers and was known to resurrect both back to its beauty if it had been neglected or failing.  Music was a passion for Eleanor. She sang in the women’s chorus and participated in city musicals.  Her most favorite memory was singing “Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little” in 2 of the city’s productions of The Music Man. This passion for music is carried on through her children and grandchildren.  Eleanor opened her heart to many people throughout her life.  She was well loved and will be missed by many.  She was predeceased by her husband, John Fisher and her brothers, Karl, Ralph and Earl Wallace and her sisters Mary Fryer, Marjorie Meyers, Elizabeth (Betty) Ellsworth and Geraldine Micklada. Eleanor is survived by her children: John Fisher of Phoenix, NY; Doug (Lana) Fisher of St. Petersburg, FL and Michelle (William) Clark of Phoenix, NY; Grandchildren: Tim, Dominic, Rita, William, Cole, Carson and 2 great grandchildren; Elizabeth and Jackson. She is also survived by extended family; Alex, Raymond, Cecelia, Nathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Connor, Talon, Kaitlin, Greg, Riley and Blake; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at The Manor at Seneca Hill, in Minetto., NY., for her care and support.

A private graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton, NY will be held at a later date.

The Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2nd Street. S., Fulton has care of arrangements.
