Elizabeth Scandura

OSWEGO, NY – Elizabeth L. Scandura passed away Wednesday June 5, 2013, at Orchard View Manor in East Providence, RI.

Betty was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Carmela Losurdo.

Betty was a graduate of local schools in Oswego and also graduated from the Oswego Branch of the Rochester Business Institute.

She was employed as a sales clerk in local stores and also taught “speedwriting” for 13 years at the adult education classes at Oswego High School prior to her employment at City Hall, where she was a secretary for
five mayors during her 16 years of employment with the city of Oswego until her retirement in 1981.

Betty was an avid sports person, an ardent fan of the New York Yankees and a golfer.

She was a member of the Battle Island State Park Women’s golf League for several years.

Betty and her late husband, James, spent the winters in Phoenix, Arizona, after their retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband and is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Linda, of Riverside; one grandson, Vincent Scandura and his wife,
Kerri, of Barrington; great-grandchildren Nicholas and Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 8 a.m. from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St Peter’s Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sugar and Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Oswego.
