Florence E. “Flo” Gardner

FULTON – March 8, 2025, Florence E. Gardner, 87; of Fulton, NY passed peacefully at Medical City Fort Worth, Fort Worth, Texas after a short illness Saturday, March 8^th, 2025.

Mrs. Gardner was born in Volney, NY to the late Harry and Lillian (Green) Shaw.  She remained a lifetime resident of the area and began wintering in Fort Worth, TX 13 years ago to be closer to her daughter and family.  Florence started her career as a Medical Assistant and Family Planner in 1975.  During her tenure of over 30 years Flo held a variety of positions later retiring from Oswego County Opportunities Health Division as the Coordinator of Facilitated Enrollment.  She enjoyed scrapbooking and had a great love for dogs:  “Halo, Bandit, Gizmo and several grand dogs.”

Florence was pre-deceased by her devoted husband and soulmate James “Jim” Gardner in 2012 after having been blessed with over 48 years together.  She was also pre-deceased by her siblings:  Betty Meeker and David Shaw and her brother-in-law:  Hal Meeker.  Mrs. Gardner is survived by her companion:  “Her Poppy, and beloved adventurous traveling partner for the last 11 years:  Stanley Stevens of Volney, NY; her children:  Cheryl (Thomas) Farrell of Fort Worth, TX; James (Mary) Gardner of Solvay, NY and Eileen Clark of Mexico, NY, and her cousin and heart daughter:  Vanessa Moore of Fort Worth, TX.

Flo is also survived by her grandchildren:  Steven Farrell, Sherri Guilds, Thomas Clark, Brandy Monroe, Adam Gardner, Katie Richmond McCamey and several nieces and nephews especially David Meeker and Harry Meeker.

Calling Hours will be held 9:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday, March 15^th at the Sugar Funeral Home Inc., 224 W. 2^nd St. S., Fulton.

A Funeral Service will follow at 11:15 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. L. Mozeliak officiating.  Burial will be held in the spring at Chase Cemetery, Lysander, NY.

In lieu of flowers, Flo wished contributions would be made to the Oswego County SPCA, PO Box 442, Fulton, NY 13069.
