OSWEGO, NY – Francis T. DeSantis, 94, of Oswego, died Thursday March 1, 2018, in Morningstar Care Center, Oswego.
Mr. DeSantis was born in Oswego, the son of the late Frank and Clara (Pascuito) DeSantis.
Mr. DeSantis retired form Novelis as a coolant house operator.
He owned and operated a corner grocery store in Oswego and worked as printing press operator at Marathon, Oswego.
He served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II from 1943 until 1945.
Mr. DeSantis was predeceased by his wife, Florine DeSantis; and grandson, Jason DeSantis.
He is survived by his loving family, children Thomas (Jeanne) DeSantis of Virginia, Jean DeSantis of Oswego and Theresa (Tom) Harding of Rome; sister, Gertrude Cummings of Florida; brother, Phillip DeSantis of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Jessica, Taylor, Tanner and Thomas; and great-grandson, Lucas.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Oswego, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.
