OSWEGO – January 23, 2024, George M. Jones, 80, of Oswego, died Tuesday January 23, 2024 due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. George was born in Auburn, the son of the late Henry and Katherine (Salvage) Jones. He resided in Auburn most of his life before moving to Oswego in 2009. He was an educator teaching business courses to inmates at the NYSDOC Cayuga Correctional Facility in Moravia, and retiring as an educator from the Auburn Correctional Facility. George served in the United States Air Force from 1964 until 1965. He was a communicant of Christ the Good Shepherd, and a member of the VFW Bronson St., Oswego.
George is survived by his wife Carol Birdseye Soule of Oswego, his son Tim (Sandy) Jones of Syracuse, stepdaughter Fanny Jillson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Jaylend, Justin, Anthony, Brett, Na’sef, and Aidan, and his siblings David Jones of Moravia, Henry Jones of Auburn, Virgil Roberts of Auburn, and Elizabeth Williams of SC.
Funeral services and burial will be private. The arrangements are in the care of the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego
